Public art commission for a housing development of 1000 new homes in Cardiff
Commissioned by Persimmon Homes and Studio Response

Commission to make a public artwork for St Edeyrn's Village; a new development of 1000 homes in Cardiff.

Make Future Village History
A series of activities working with local residents to understand the context of St Edeyrn's Village. These activities will inform the public artwork.

Clay making workshops
Workshops with local residents making objects in clay to think about the identity of the new village, and will be buried under the village green.

A talk with Dr Simon Dixon
Dr Simon Dixon from the School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences at University of Birmingham uses information from a variety of maps to ask questions about where St Edeyrn's Village got its shape and form from.

Burial ceremony and celebration
A day throwing ceramic objects into a pit under what will become the new village green, and celebrating making future village history with food.

Object archive
Documentation of the ceramic objects made by residents, which are now buried in the village.

Floor dossier
Visual research into making floors, and making images in floors, for the permanent artwork aspect of the commission.

This project is commissioned by Studio Response on behalf of Persimmon Homes as the result of a planning condition.
